Geek Week, Day 3: The Academic Math and Science Nerd

A fair few people fit into the category of the academic geek (think college nerds, bookworms, and awesome teachers!). I personally think academic geeks are some of the most cool people around, and were I that clever I would certainly want to display my academic geekdom on a funny math or science t-shirt!

Also make sure to keep these funny math and science designs in mind for the holidays (I'm talkin' some excellent presents and gifts for your favorite teachers and students alike!)

Oh, and instead of showcasing individual products with each design, I'm going to just show the actual design. It's tricky showing only one t-shirt or gift item since the designs shown are almost always available on more cool gear.

Let's start off general, with t-shirt and gift designs perfect for the average academic geek, whether math or science is your thing (or not)!



And now we move on to specifically math geeks. I only wish I could call myself a math geek, because at least then I'd be confident with numbers. Alas, I am a numerical dunce. Maybe if I wore one of these geeky math t-shirts, I could fool people into thinking my nerdiness extends to all things mathematically related?












Now that we've got the merdy math t-shirts and gifts covered, let's move on to science tees and gear. We'll start with Biology ("b" comes before "c" for "chemistry)! Some of these biology shirts are classic, and I especially love the ones with a retro vintage touch. And it seems green is the thing, which I suppose is appropriate for biology merchandise (what with photosynthesis and chloro-whatsit and all).



And of course we can't discount the importance of chemistry, with all those clever symbols and signs in all those tables and formulas (I'm in the know, see?). Geek Week, Day 2: The Internet Nerd

Oh, the internet nerd. Now come on, let's face it. If you're even here reading this post, then you probably fit into this category. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to wager that most people under the age of 60 now fit into this category (no offence to the over-60's, because I'm sure there's also tons and tons of internet geeks in your generation, too!).

I'm going to begin with the obvious here. Where's everyone hanging out online these days? MySpace seems to be the place to see and be seen, and if you're not on MySpace then... well, you're not on MySpace.

MySpace t-shirts have been gaining popularity (you must've seen a few funny "you look better on MySpace" shirts on the street by now), so here's a selection of MySpace gifts and apparel. Whether you take MySpace seriously or not isn't the question; the question is how amusing some of these clever designs are.



If you've never heard of MySpace, you've at least heard of blogging! And if you haven't heard of blogging, what are you doing here? Ha! Blogs are the online way to get yourself noticed in the online world, to get your opinions out, to say what you want, to let yourself shine, and... you get the idea. A lot of people have made themselves mightly popular through their blog, and it's a wonderful feeling to know someone's reading all about what you have to say. SOoooooo, if you've got a blog, or if you're sick of blogs (I made sure to include an anti-blog t-shirt design below), why not wear a blog shirt, slap a blogging bumper sticker on your car, or accessorize with a blogging button?



Podcasting is also getting big. For those who don't know what podcasting is, it's like audio blogging. Podcasts can be used for all sorts of cool things, like self-promotion, music radio, and more. Since podcasting is sort of new and maybe not know by all, if you've got a podcast it might be an idea to wear a podcasting t-shirt or sport a podcasting bumper sticker. That way, people will enquire about it and you can give them your URL!



Speaking of blogs, podcasting, and popularity... RSS/XML! Having a feed these days is pretty important if you want to stay on top of things. If you don't know what all of this means, I suggest you find yourself a spare few hours and do some serious internet surfing on the topic!
